I live in Westchester County, NY, and the weather last night and today has been historic. The overnight low temperature was around zero, but the wind was extremely strong and that caused extreme wind chill factors. Last night, around 8 pm, we were sitting in our kitchen and it sounded like an airplane flew directly over our house . . . but it wasn't an airplane, it was the loudest wind noise we had ever heard. Today, there are a lot of roads that are temporarily closed due to fallen trees blocking the roadway. In some places, a downed tree has hit a power line, which can cause a very dangerous situation, with downed wires on roads. This mess is being cleaned up by ConEd crews dealing with live wires, and other workers clearing trees off of the roads. By Sunday, the temperature will be back to (or maybe even slightly above) normal, and all of the trees should be cleared up as well.
